Incident Report for UMass Lowell

Monitoring

MathWorks, the vendor behind MATLAB and related tools, experienced a cyberattack beginning Sunday, May 18. This incident affected MathWorks’ internal IT systems, causing temporary outages for many of their online services. As a result, some UMass Lowell users may have encountered issues accessing MathWorks products.

Due to indications that MathWorks' internal authentication systems may have been involved, and out of an abundance of caution, we will be resetting UML account passwords for users who accessed MathWorks systems. We will directly email affected users with additional information and instructions. Thank you for your understanding as we take steps to protect the security of the university.
